Dhaka, Mar 12 (V7N) – Seven new election petitions have been filed in the High Court on Thursday (March 12) alleging vote rigging in the 13th National Parliament elections. The cases were filed by candidates from BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.

The election bench headed by Justice Md. Zakir Hossain will hear the petitions, which challenge alleged irregularities in various constituencies.

Candidates Filing Cases Today:

  • Miah Golam Parwar – Jamaat candidate, Khulna-5

  • Dr. Sultan Ahmed – Jamaat candidate, Barguna-2

  • Shamim Sayedee – Jamaat candidate, Pirojpur-2

  • MA Qayyum – BNP candidate, Dhaka-11

  • Sharifuzzaman Sharif – BNP candidate, Chuadanga-1

  • Nadira Akhter – BNP candidate, Madaripur-1

  • Shahreen Islam – BNP candidate, Nilphamari-2

The High Court bench has ordered the custody of ballot papers and result documents of the concerned centers in light of multiple applications filed across different constituencies.

This special bench was formed under Section 49 of the Representation of the People Ordinance (RPO) to hear petitions challenging parliamentary election results. Court sources confirmed that hearings for these seven newly filed cases will begin very soon.
