Dhaka, Nov 18 (V7N)- The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has directed the prosecution to submit an investigation report against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by December 17 , in connection with the alleged genocide during July-August . The tribunal also expressed its dissatisfaction over the failure to arrest Sheikh Hasina, despite the issuance of an arrest warrant.

 
The order was issued by a three-member tribunal led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder , following a hearing on Monday. The tribunal emphasized the urgency of advancing the investigation and instructed the prosecution to expedite the process.

The chief prosecutor informed the court of initial findings that allegedly establish a background of oppression related to the case.

 
In a significant development, lawyer Ehsanul Haque Samaji , who was defending five accused individuals, has withdrawn his representation due to being appointed to a state position.

 
This morning, 12 accused individuals were brought to the tribunal from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj , while another, Golam Dastagir Gazi , was transferred from Narayanganj Prison . Among the 13 accused are prominent figures such as former minister Anisul Haque . These individuals were officially arrested in connection with the July-August massacre case , marking a major step in the legal proceedings.

 
The case pertains to allegations of genocide during July and August, a period marked by significant unrest and violence. The tribunal's proceedings underscore the push for accountability in addressing alleged crimes against humanity.
