Dhaka, Dec 02 (V7N) – The state has filed an appeal seeking to halt the implementation of a High Court ruling that declared "Joy Bangla" as Bangladesh's national slogan.
Additional Attorney General Barrister Anik R Haque confirmed the appeal on Monday.
The case originated in 2017 when Supreme Court lawyer Dr. Bashir Ahmed filed a writ petition requesting "Joy Bangla" be recognized as the national slogan. After deliberations, the High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader issued a landmark verdict on March 10, 2020, formally declaring, "We declare that 'Joy Bangla' shall be the national slogan of Bangladesh."
The state now seeks to stay the execution of this decision.
