Dhaka, Jan 26 (V7N) — The International Criminal Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against former Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Harun Or Rashid, in connection with the July-August massacre case. The warrant was issued on Sunday, according to Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tajul Islam.
The case pertains to incidents during the anti-discrimination movement, including the burning of six bodies in Ashulia on August 5. The tribunal has also summoned two former policemen, SI Abdul Malek and Constable Mukul Chokder, who were produced before the court in connection with the same case.
Previously, the tribunal had issued arrest warrants for former Member of Parliament Saiful Islam and four other police officers in the same case. The allegations include grave human rights violations during the anti-discrimination protests.
The International Crimes Tribunal continues to investigate the incidents, which have drawn widespread attention for their severity and implications for justice in the country.
