Dhaka, Oct 15 (V7N) — A total of 45 accused, including former Law Minister Anisul Haque, former State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak, former Education Minister Dipu Moni, ten other former ministers, and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s advisors Salman F Rahman and Toufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, along with several secretaries and former MPs, were produced before the International Crimes Tribunal in connection with seven cases of crimes against humanity committed during the July–August period.
The hearings are being held on Wednesday (October 15) at International Crimes Tribunal-1 and Tribunal-2. Although the submission date for the investigation report was set for today, the prosecution is likely to seek additional time to complete the process.
Meanwhile, the third day of closing arguments against Sheikh Hasina and three co-accused in the crimes against humanity case related to the July uprising is underway. Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam is presenting the arguments before Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder.
During Tuesday’s session, the prosecution highlighted documentary evidence, the locations of atrocities, the extent of the genocide, and the sequence of events during the uprising. Five specific charges have been framed against the accused.
In addition, testimony in the Ashulia body-burning case is scheduled to be recorded today at International Crimes Tribunal-2.
