On Tuesday, four newly appointed judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court took their oaths of office.
These judges were promoted from the High Court Division and were sworn in by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed at a ceremony held on the Supreme Court premises at 10:30 am.
The new Appellate Division judges are Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, Justice Syed Md Ziaul Karim, Justice Md Rezaul Haque, and Justice SM Emdadul Hoque. The appointment, made by President Mohammed Shahabuddin under Article 95(1) of the constitution, took effect from the date of the oath.
The Chief Justice was recently appointed as the 25th Chief Justice of Bangladesh, joining the newly sworn-in judges and Justice Ashfaqul Islam.
