Dhaka, June 10 (V7N) — A suspected clash over control of the local drug trade has left one notorious drug dealer dead in the Pallabi area of the capital early Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rakibul Hasan Sani, alias ‘Paper Sani,’ 29, known locally as a drug dealer with a criminal background.

According to Pallabi police, the killing took place between 4:30am and 5:00am in Line-03, Block-B of Mirpur Section-11, under Pallabi Police Station. Citing locals, police said Sani was brutally hacked to death by a group of miscreants allegedly belonging to a rival faction involved in drug trade.

Initial investigations have named several suspects, including Langra Rubel, Tan Akash, Jinda, and Gal Kata Rabbi—all known in the area for their alleged involvement in drug peddling and other criminal activities.

Receiving information from locals, police recovered Sani’s body around 7:00am and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) later visited the crime scene. Legal proceedings in connection with the murder are currently underway.

Confirming the incident, Shahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Pallabi Police Station, told reporters that the victim’s family is preparing to file a case over the killing.

Local residents of Millat Camp, where the killing took place, expressed fear and frustration over the deteriorating law and order in the area, particularly related to turf wars among local drug syndicates.

Police sources indicated that the murder was most likely triggered by long-standing enmity and rivalry for control over the local drug distribution network.
