Dhaka, Aug 16 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two youths from Comilla in connection with the murder of Rahat Hossain Rabbi (31), who was stabbed to death at a shisha bar named 360 Degree in Dhaka’s Banani area.
RAB-1 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ashikur Rahman disclosed the arrests at a press briefing in Uttara on Saturday morning. He said the killing was carried out in a planned manner over a dispute centering on dominance inside and outside the shisha lounge.
“The victim and the suspects knew each other. Both sides used to frequent the lounge, and conflicts over influence led to the tragic incident,” Lt. Col. Rahman said.
He added that drives are underway to arrest others involved. In response to reporters’ questions, he noted that RAB is also investigating how the lounge was operating late into the night, vowing that illegal shisha bars would be shut down through raids.
Earlier, in the early hours of Thursday (August 14), Rabbi was stabbed inside the 360 Degree lounge. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead by doctors.
