Jhalokathi, Oct 18 (V7N) – A significant burglary occurred at the Jhalokathi District Social Services Office late Friday night, with thieves cutting through a rear window grill to gain access and steal valuable equipment and cash.

According to office sources, the incident took place between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Saturday. The unknown perpetrators entered the office from the back and quickly looted two laptops, two desktop computers, one tablet, Tk 30,000 in cash, and various other office items. Although a night guard was present at the office during the time of the robbery, the thieves managed to carry out the theft swiftly through the rear entrance.

The burglary was discovered early Saturday morning when office staff arrived. They immediately notified the police, who visited the scene to inspect the area and collect evidence.

Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed the incident and stated that the matter is being investigated with priority. “We have inspected the office and are conducting a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible,” he said.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and urged anyone with information about the burglary to come forward to assist in the case. The incident has raised concerns about the security of government offices in the district.
