Habiganj, Oct 26 (V7N) — In a major anti-narcotics operation, members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested two suspected drug dealers and seized 53 kilograms of marijuana in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district.

According to RAB-9, the raid was conducted around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (October 24) by a special team from the Shaestaganj Camp of RAB-9, CPC-3. Acting on a tip-off, the elite force carried out the operation at an abandoned passenger shed near the Chunarughat-Madhabpur road in the Shahjahanpur union’s 20 No. Tea Garden area.

During the raid, RAB personnel recovered 11 packets of marijuana weighing a total of 53 kilograms and arrested two individuals at the scene.

The detainees were identified as Jonak Urang, son of the late Robi Urang from Mrittika Tea Garden in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district, and Dulal Bhowmik, son of the late Komol Bhowmik from Ramganga Tea Garden in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj district.

RAB sources said during primary interrogation, the suspects admitted to collecting marijuana from border-adjacent areas of Habiganj and distributing it across various parts of the district in collaboration with others.

A RAB-9 official confirmed that a case under the Narcotics Control Act is being filed against the two detainees, and the seized drugs have been confiscated in accordance with legal procedures.

“The anti-drug drive will continue,” the RAB official said. “RAB remains committed to eliminating drug trafficking networks and protecting society from the threat of narcotics.”
