Dhaka, Nov 10 (V7N) — A man named Tariq Saif Mamun (50) was shot dead in front of the National Medical near Court Area in Old Dhaka on Monday (November 10) morning.
According to police and hospital sources, unidentified miscreants opened fire on Tariq around 11 a.m. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at around 12 noon.
Confirming the incident, Inspector-in-Charge of DMCH Police Station Md. Faruk said that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
The deceased, son of SM Iqbal from Samserabad village, Mobarak Colony, Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila, lived with his family in a rented house in Aftab Nagar, Badda.
His wife, Bilkis Akhter Ripa, said that her husband had left home in the morning to appear in court. “Later, I received news that he had been shot. I don’t know what happened, why, or who shot him,” she said.
Police are investigating the motive behind the shooting.
