Pabna, Jan 08 (V7N) – The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate has fined three illegal mini fuel stations a total of Tk 90,000 during a mobile court operation in Pabna, while sealing two of the unauthorized establishments.
The drive was carried out on Wednesday afternoon in Pabna Sadar and Atgharia upazilas by Assistant Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, Md. Mahmud Hasan Rony.
According to officials, an illegal mini petroleum agency named Bangla Star, located in the Arifpur area of Pabna Sadar upazila, was fined Tk 50,000 for operating without valid approval. In a separate operation at Ekdanta Bazar in Atgharia upazila, two other illegal outlets—Bismillah Mini Petrol Pump and Fuad Enterprise Mini Fuel Station—were fined Tk 20,000 each, amounting to Tk 40,000. Both establishments were sealed on the spot.
Md. Mahmud Hasan Rony stated that a group of unscrupulous traders has been setting up unauthorized mini fuel stations across the district to earn excessive profits, posing risks to consumers and public safety. He emphasized that such operations are illegal and that enforcement drives to shut them down will continue.
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion and Ansar-VDP were present during the operation to provide security and assist in implementing the action.
The authorities reiterated that the ongoing campaign aims to protect consumers, ensure fuel safety standards, and prevent the unregulated sale of petroleum products in the district.
