The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is interrogating Kazi Kamal Ahmed, an Awami League leader, in connection with the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar. According to DB Chief Additional Commissioner Harunor Rashid, Ahmed has not yet been officially arrested but is being questioned on various matters. If any involvement is found, he will be formally arrested.

Harun also mentioned that MP Anar's family members will soon go to India for a DNA test related to the flesh recovered from a septic tank at Sanjeeva Garden in Kolkata. Indian investigators have taken the names and contact details of the family members for further coordination.

MP Anwarul Azim Anar, a lawmaker from the ruling Awami League, had crossed into India for medical treatment and was last heard from on May 13. His death was confirmed by the Bangladesh government on May 22, citing Indian police reports.
