Ukhiya, July 10 (V7N)- The Ukhiya Upazila administration has fined homeowners in various areas of Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, for renting houses to Rohingyas through a mobile court. During this operation, they were able to detain ten Rohingya tenants.
 
The operation was conducted on Tuesday (July 9) at 12 noon in various areas of Palongkhali Union in Ukhiya under the leadership of Ukhiya Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Saleh Ahmed, with the assistance of police and village police.
 
In Asharpara of Ward No. 5 of Palongkhali Union, Abdul Karim's son Jamal Uddin (35) was detained for renting out houses to Rohingyas. Additionally, fines of one thousand taka each were imposed on two homeowners: Md. Hossain (60), son of Haji Golam Bari from Jamtali, and Abdur Rahim (45), son of Nazir Hossain from the same area, totaling two thousand taka.
 
Ukhiya Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Saleh Ahmed said that during the operation on Tuesday afternoon in various areas of Palongkhali Union, one homeowner was detained and two homeowners were fined for renting houses to Rohingyas. At this time, ten Rohingya tenants were also detained. 
 
He added that legal action will be taken against those who rent houses to Rohingyas, and the upazila administration will continue its operations.
