Pabna, Sep 11 (V7N) - RAB has apprehended Niloy Parvez Imon (26), the key figure behind producing a fraudulent Bangladeshi birth certificate in the name of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Pabna.

Imon was taken into custody on the night of Tuesday, September 10, from the Kacharipara area of Pabna town.

The detainee, Niloy Parvez Imon, is the son of Altaf Hossain from Ahmadpur village in Sujanagar upazila, Pabna. He worked as a computer operator at the Ahmadpur Union Parishad.

During a press briefing at the RAB-12 Pabna office on Wednesday, September 11, Company Commander Major Ehteshamul Haque Khan shared details about the arrest.

He explained that on March 20 of this year, news about the creation of a fake Bangladeshi birth certificate in Justin Trudeau's name spread widely on media platforms and social media. The accusation pointed to Niloy Parvez Imon, who worked as a computer operator at the Ahmadpur Union Parishad.

On March 21, Union Parishad member and Panel Chairman No. 2, Fatema Begum, filed a case at Aminpur Police Station, identifying Imon by name and accusing three unknown individuals. Additionally, the district administration formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.

Since the event, Imon had been on the run. However, with the help of technological tracking and secret intelligence, RAB managed to arrest him from Pabna town last night.

Major Ehteshamul Haque Khan stated that, during initial questioning, Imon admitted to RAB that he had been making large sums of money by creating fake national ID cards, birth certificates, educational certificates, and police clearances for people across Pabna and other regions. RAB suspects that someone paid him to produce the fraudulent birth certificate in Justin Trudeau’s name, which later exposed the illicit operation.
