Dhaka, Sep 12 (V7N): The Police Headquarters has set up a three-member committee to investigate allegations that Tk25 crore went missing from the office of former Special Branch (SB) chief Monirul Islam.

The committee is headed by DIG Golam Kibria from the Special Security and Protection Battalion (SPBn), as confirmed by Kibria on Thursday.

According to Kibria, the committee has been tasked with probing the embezzlement of Tk25 crore from Monirul Islam's office and examining other related corruption charges. Two additional members from the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) are also part of the investigation team.

He added that the investigation is still ongoing and will require more time to conclude.
