Dhaka, Sep 18 (V7N): A lawsuit was filed today in Chattogram against 18 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three former Chief Election Commissioners, accusing them of staging fraudulent parliamentary elections in 2014, 2018, and 2024.

The plaintiff, Md Ekramul Karim, former general secretary of BNP's Chittagong Metropolitan unit and a 70-year-old resident of Chawkbazar, Chittagong, alleged that these elections were conducted without proper public participation, leading to the selection of unelected Members of Parliament.

The court has directed an investigation, with a report to be submitted in the coming weeks.

Karim further claimed that these elections deprived the public of their right to vote, resulting in unelected officials occupying positions of power.

Advocate Kofil Uddin, the plaintiff's lawyer, confirmed the case was filed based on repeated "fake parliamentary elections" and the manipulation of electoral outcomes. The defendants include former Chief Election Commissioners Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmad, KM Nurul Huda, Kazi Habibul Awal, several election commissioners, secretaries, and former bridge minister Obaidul Quader, named as a "fake national parliament member."
