Roumari, Oct 02 (V7N)- Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 12 Bangladeshi nationals early Wednesday morning at the Char Boalmari border in Shaulmari Union, Roumari Upazila, for illegal entry. The arrest took place around 5 a.m., as confirmed by Naik Subedar Ismail of Gaytapara BOP camp, under BGB's 35 Jamalpur Battalion.
The arrested individuals, all from various districts across Bangladesh, reportedly attempted to cross into India through different borders in search of work. Among those detained were Ashraful Alam (26) from Roumari Upazila, Tofazzal Hossain (29) from Mymensingh, and Furkan Ali (31) from Singher Upazila, among others.
According to BGB officials, the 12 men illegally entered Bangladesh through the International Border 1058 Pillar at Char Boalmari. BGB members, patrolling the Gaytapara BOP camp, apprehended the individuals while they were trying to cross.
The detainees were handed over to Roumari police station. Officer-in-Charge Mamunur Rashid confirmed that the arrested men were brought in by the BGB and that legal proceedings are ongoing, with a case pending in connection to the incident.
