Mongla, Oct 03 (V7N)– A group of 75 senior army officers from 21 countries, including Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Africa, Kuwait, Qatar, and Nepal, arrived at Karamjal in the Sundarbans on Wednesday as part of a special training tour organized by the Defense Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) of Bangladesh. The delegation was accompanied by their family members, bringing the total number of visitors to 85.
Md. Azad Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of the Karamjal Wildlife Breeding and Tourism Center, stated that the foreign officers were on a special training tour to explore the region's strategic and ecological significance. The visitors were given an opportunity to experience the unique biodiversity of the Sundarbans, one of the largest mangrove forests in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The tour, which had been coordinated by the Khulna Naval Region Commander, involved detailed preparations for the officers' visit. A letter, signed by Lt. Commander Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan, outlined the necessary arrangements, including security measures, sightseeing tours, English-language commentary, and medical facilities. The Karamjal staff ensured that the surrounding area was thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the visitors.
Following their exploration of the Sundarbans, the officers and their families expressed appreciation for the natural beauty of the region and the security provided by the forest guards. They were particularly impressed with the efforts made to safeguard both the environment and the visitors.
This high-profile visit underscores the global interest in Bangladesh's natural resources and showcases the Sundarbans as not only a vital ecological region but also a site of strategic significance.
