Sylhet, Oct 10 (V7N)- The monsoon season is gradually retreating from Sylhet after several days of continuous rain. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the monsoon is expected to completely withdraw by October 13 or 14. Until then, sporadic rain is expected to continue across the country, particularly in Sylhet and other regions.

Dr. Omar Farooq, a meteorologist with the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, indicated that while rainfall is expected to reduce after mid-October, light to moderate rain will likely persist in the coming days. Sylhet is currently experiencing fog in the evenings, accompanied by a gentle breeze, signaling the impending departure of the monsoon.

The weather forecast notes that the monsoon axis extends from Bihar, West Bengal, and central Bangladesh to Assam. Monsoon activity remains moderate over Bangladesh but weak over the North Bay of Bengal.

Over the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are forecasted for many areas of Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions, as well as parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong. Some regions may experience moderate heavy rainfall. During this period, daytime temperatures are expected to decrease slightly, while nighttime temperatures will likely remain stable.

On Thursday, October 10, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions could experience light to moderate rain with gusty winds or thunder. Similar conditions are expected for Rangpur, Rajshahi, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. Moderate heavy rainfall is also possible in isolated areas, with minimal changes in temperature.

On Friday, October 11, rainfall is likely to affect all divisions, including Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet. Light to moderate showers, accompanied by gusty winds, are forecasted to continue nationwide as the country prepares for the seasonal transition from monsoon to dry weather.
