Rangamati, Oct 23 (V7N)- In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at safeguarding the health of young women in the hill districts, the Rangamati Health Department has launched a campaign to administer the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to female children aged 10 to 15 years. The campaign is designed to protect the next generation from the risk of cervical cancer, a serious health concern for women.

At a press conference held on Wednesday afternoon, Rangamati Civil Surgeon Dr. Nuyen Khisa announced that the campaign will begin on October 24 and cover a total of 29,467 women and children, including 1,567 girls aged 10 to 14. The vaccination drive will be conducted across 955 educational institutions within 159 wards of 50 unions in Rangamati over the next 18 working days.

Dr. Tanjeel Hossain, representing the World Health Organization (WHO), presented the primary details of the campaign. He emphasized that the HPV vaccine being provided is of the highest quality, with no known side effects, and has received approval from the WHO. Dr. Hossain reassured the public, "The quality of government vaccines is undoubtedly at the highest level. No vaccine is officially given without approval from the World Health Organization."

Rangamati Press Club President Sakhawat Hossain Rubel, Senior Journalist and Former President of the Press Club AKM Makchud Ahamed, along with Reports Unit President Sushil Prasad Chakma and various media representatives, were also present at the conference.

The Health Department urged media professionals and the general public to cooperate fully in ensuring the success of this important vaccination campaign.
