Rajshahi, Nov 06 (V7N) — An awareness seminar aimed at fostering a fair and healthy business environment was held at the Rajshahi Chamber Bhaban auditorium on Wednesday morning. Organized by the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event brought together business owners and representatives from various sectors, along with key government officials. Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner and RASC Administrator Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir attended as the chief guest.

In his address, Commissioner Humayun Kabir emphasized the critical role that businesses play in sustaining the country’s economy, calling them the "lifeblood" of economic growth. He urged businesses to support new entrepreneurs in marketing their products and highlighted the importance of promoting sustainable practices. "We must eliminate child labor in factories, discourage plastic use, and encourage jute products," he said. He also stressed the need for noise pollution control and adherence to health and food safety regulations.

The Commissioner praised ongoing initiatives to improve Rajshahi's infrastructure, including the Baya Canal restoration program to address waterlogging issues. He indicated that future drainage system improvements, such as restoring the Duari Canal, would help mitigate mosquito-borne diseases like dengue.

During the open discussion, traders raised concerns about challenges they face, including high license fees, obtaining fire safety and environmental certificates, and access to bank loans. They also proposed the establishment of a one-stop service center to streamline essential services, making it easier for businesses to access necessary permits and certificates.

The seminar was chaired by Rajshahi Chamber President Masudur Rahman Rinku and featured participation from officials such as Fire Service Deputy Director Mohammad Naimul Ahsan Bhuiyan, Department of Environment Assistant Director Kabir Hossain, and Deputy Inspector General of Factories Jahangir Alam, who each addressed various business-related regulatory issues.

Other notable attendees included industry leaders like Rajshahi Silk Industry Owners Association President Liaquat Ali, District Brick Kiln Owners Association President Sadrul Islam, and representatives from prominent local businesses. The event was conducted by Rajshahi Chamber Vice President Sultan Mahmud.

This seminar underscored the collective commitment to a business-friendly environment in Rajshahi and the ongoing dialogue between the public and private sectors to support sustainable economic development.
