Sirajganj, Nov 28, (V7N) - BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku stated, "We are firm believers in democracy and aim to win elections through the people’s votes." He made this statement on Thursday (November 28) afternoon while addressing a historic public meeting at Jamtail Dhopakandi Government Multipurpose High School grounds in Kamarkhand Upazila, Sirajganj, marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
During his speech, he criticized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, saying, "Murderous Hasina wants to play with the blood of the people of Bangladesh. Despite killing so many people, the Awami League has shown no remorse. I heard from abroad that Hasina wanted to permanently remove me from Sirajganj’s politics and tried to imprison me. But I did not accept her imprisonment. Even while staying abroad, I attempted to lead the movement."
Recalling the martyrs in July and August, Tuku expressed his gratitude, saying, "I pay homage to Shaheed Sain, Shaheed Mugdha, and 2,000 martyrs of our nation. This country is free because of their sacrifices. Holding a meeting in Kamarkhand was once a dream, but their bloodshed made it possible."
Addressing the Awami League, Tuku remarked, "Awami League is not human; they are hyenas. There is hardly any BNP member who hasn’t been imprisoned or persecuted. Yet, we, the BNP, have never fled."
He added, "Shaheed Ziaur Rahman believed in democracy and gave everyone democratic rights. However, Murderous Hasina has oppressed the people of this country more than Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did from 1971 to 1975. She has laundered 90,000 crore taka out of the country. What will remain in the country if this continues?"
Referring to divine justice, Tuku said, "Hasina used to speak as if she were God herself, but Allah has shown her otherwise. Even her lunch was taken away." He also warned BNP members, saying, "If it is proven that Awami League members have infiltrated our party, action will be taken against them."
Addressing the Hindu community, Tuku said, "I urge my Hindu brothers not to fall into Hasina’s trap. Those participating in Awami League's so-called Hindu rallies are not true Hindus but Awami League agents trying to create chaos in the country. We must remain vigilant. The Awami League hasn’t given up; the battle isn’t over yet."
Concluding his speech, Tuku said, "My father served the people of Sirajganj as a servant, and I am also your servant. I want to die serving you."
The public meeting was presided over by Kamarkhand Upazila BNP President Badiuzzaman Ferdous, with Amirul Islam Khan Alim, BNP’s Joint Organizing Secretary (Rajshahi Division) and former Central Chhatra Dal General Secretary, as the main speaker.
Special guests included Rumana Mahmud, former Member of Parliament for Sirajganj Sadar–Kamarkhand constituency and District BNP President; Saidur Rahman Bacchu, District BNP General Secretary; and Abdullah Al Kayes, Convenor of the Volunteer Wing of BNP. The event was conducted by Rezaur Rabbi Uthhan, General Secretary of Kamarkhand Upazila BNP.
