Rajshahi, Dec 22, (V7N) – The Police Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), Mohammad Abu Sufian, officially inaugurated the new building of Rajpara Police Station in Rajshahi city today.

The inauguration ceremony took place at 10:00 AM at the new building, located on the Kadamtala intersection of Rajpara. Commissioner Sufian, who was the chief guest, expressed his optimism that the new building would play a more effective role in maintaining law and order in the Rajpara Thana area. He highlighted that the modern amenities of the new facility would ease police operations and enable quicker and more effective public service delivery.

It is worth noting that the previous Rajpara Police Station building was heavily damaged during the anti-discrimination student protests on August 5, 2024, and the barracks became uninhabitable. Despite this challenge, police officers continued to ensure the safety and security of local residents and upheld law and order in the area.

Considering the dilapidated condition of the old building, RMP’s Police Commissioner instructed the rental of a modern building to address the housing crisis. Since assuming office, Commissioner Sufian has taken various steps to improve the welfare, efficiency, and morale of the Metropolitan Police. The new building is part of these efforts to resolve housing shortages.

Following the inauguration, the Police Commissioner toured the new facility. The event was marked by a festive atmosphere among local residents, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in the service of Rajpara Police Station.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Police Commissioner (promoted to Additional DIG) Bibhuti Bhushan Banerjee of RMP’s POM Department, senior RMP officers, local representatives, journalists, and members of civil society.
