Pabna, Mar 03, (V7N) - To control rising prices and prevent excessive stockpiling during Ramadan, Pabna District Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam led a market monitoring operation in the city’s Big Market on Sunday (March 2) afternoon.
During the visit, authorities checked prices of essential commodities, including rice, and examined wholesale and retail price lists, purchase receipts, and profit margins.
Speaking to journalists, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam said,
“We are here to warn both buyers and sellers. Prices must not be manipulated unfairly. Sellers should maintain purchase vouchers to ensure transparency, so that they benefit fairly while buyers are not exploited. Strict action will be taken against syndicates engaging in price gouging.”
The monitoring team included Additional District Magistrate Moniruzzaman, Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) President ABM Fazlur Rahman, and former district BNP vice-president Abdullah Al Mahmud Mannan, among others.
