Dhamrai, Mar 07 (V7N) – Dhaka District Jubo Dal President Yasin Ferdous Murad has accused the 1/11 government of torturing Tarique Rahman and sending democracy into exile. He claimed that Tarique Rahman’s leadership during the July student-public movement paved the way for a return to democracy in Bangladesh.

Murad made these remarks at a prayer and iftar mahfil organized by Bhararia Union BNP and its affiliates in Dhamrai on Friday (March 8). The event, held at Tentulia Ibtedia Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage-Auditorium, marked the 19th imprisonment day of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Murad stated that the July Movement, led by Tarique Rahman, was successful due to his strategic leadership. However, he lamented that the people of the country have not been able to exercise their voting rights for the last 18 years. He asserted that BNP’s ongoing struggle aims to restore the people's right to vote, and the July Movement is a continuation of that fight.

Referring to the student movement against the quota system, he claimed that under Tarique Rahman’s call, people joined the movement to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Murad further emphasized that only a government elected by the people can ensure good governance, law and order, and economic stability. He added that justice and peace would be restored once a democratic government is established.

The event was presided over by Union BNP General Secretary S. and attended by local leaders, including Enayet Hossain, Abdus Salam, Kamrul Islam, Ibadul Haque Zahid, Monirul Islam Monir, Abul Hossain, Rakib Hossain, and Rony Ahmed.
