Rangamati, Mar 13 (V7N)– A female passenger was killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw and a truck near the Bangalhalia Police Camp on the Chandraghona-Bangalhalia road in Rangamati.
The deceased has been identified as Chigni Chakma, 60. Her husband, Suresh Chandra Chakma, was also injured in the incident. They are residents of Pankata Para village in Jurachhari upazila of Rangamati district.
Chandraghona Police Station OC (Investigation) Imrul Hasan confirmed that the road accident occurred at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 13.
He reported that the collision involved a passenger-less CNG auto-rickshaw traveling from Chandraghona Ferry Ghat and a Khulna Metro-SH 11-0347 truck heading towards the ferry ghat from Bangalhalia. Two people were injured at the scene. With the assistance of police and locals, the two injured passengers from the CNG auto-rickshaw were taken to Chandraghona Christian Hospital for treatment, but one person died en route.
Dr. Prabir Khiang, director of Chandraghona Christian Hospital, stated that the woman died on the way to the hospital. The other injured person was transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital due to their critical condition.
Police have detained the drivers and helpers of the vehicles involved in the accident, and legal proceedings are underway at Chandraghona Police Station.
