Jhalakathi, Mar 16 (V7N)– Abdul Mannan Rasul, former president of the Jhalakathi District Bar Association and Public Prosecutor (PP), has been ordered to jail by a court in Jhalakathi in connection with three separate cases.
Rasul appeared in court at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, to seek bail. However, District and Sessions Judge Md. Rahibul Islam rejected his bail application and ordered his immediate imprisonment. Advocate Maheb Hossain, the current Public Prosecutor of the District and Sessions Judge Court, confirmed the court's decision.
Abdul Mannan Rasul, the son of the late Md. Muzaffar Ali Mia of Ronaldse Road in Jhalakathi town, also served as the president of the district Krishak League.
According to Advocate Maheb Hossain, there are a total of six cases filed against Mannan Rasul. The court has ordered his imprisonment in three of these cases. The hearings for the remaining three cases have been scheduled for March 18.
Mannan Rasul had been in hiding since the departure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from the country on August 5, and had not been seen in public since that time.
The court's decision has drawn significant attention in the local community, and the upcoming hearings on the remaining cases are being closely monitored.
