Tangail, July 22 (V7N) - Two students from Tangail, Tanvir Ahmed (14) and Humaira (8), were laid to rest following the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College campus in Uttara, Dhaka. On Tuesday morning (22 July), Humaira, a third-grade student and daughter of Delwar Hossain, a Bengali language teacher at the school, was buried in her native village Karanipara of Hotea Union in Sakhipur Upazila. Tanvir Ahmed, an eighth-grade student and son of Rubel Mia from Nogorvhat village of Warshi Union in Mirzapur Upazila, was also laid to rest in his family graveyard in Nobbat village.
 
At 9:00 AM, the funeral prayer (Janaza) for Humaira was held at the primary school field in Karanipara, followed by burial at the local cemetery. At 10:00 AM, Tanvir’s Janaza took place in Nobbat village, after which he was buried. Large numbers of people from Mirzapur and Sakhipur Upazilas gathered to pay their respects, and the villages were filled with grief and mourning.
 
Earlier that morning, Humaira’s body was brought from Dhaka to her native village in Sakhipur, where a funeral prayer was held at the local Eidgah ground before burial. The entire area was engulfed in sorrow.
 
Delwar Hossain, Humaira’s father and a teacher at Milestone School and College, tearfully said, “My daughter was talented and dreamed of becoming a doctor or engineer. She loved pomegranate, so I planted a tree at home so she could enjoy its fruit when she returned. I never imagined that at such a young age she would leave me like this.”
 
Local resident Shamsul Alam expressed deep sadness over the tragedy, saying, “No one expected such a horrific incident in Bangladesh. So many children lost their lives in a moment. I demand that the Air Force conduct their training in safer locations.”
 
Tanvir’s cousin Sajib shared that his uncle and aunt had enrolled Tanvir in Milestone School to provide him with a quality education. Tanvir’s younger brother, Tasbir, is a fourth-grade student. The news of Tanvir’s tragic death spread rapidly, casting a heavy shadow of grief over Nobbat village, where relatives mourned deeply.
 
Various political and community leaders expressed their condolences. Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui, Child Affairs Secretary of BNP’s National Executive Committee, Mirzapur Upazila Executive Officer ABM Arifur Islam, and others conveyed their sorrow. Sultan Salauddin Tuku, BNP’s Publicity Secretary, said, “The tragic plane crash in Uttara, Dhaka, which caused the loss of innocent lives, is heartbreaking. We pray for the departed souls and stand with the families of the victims, including the two students from Tangail.”
 
Tangail BNP leaders, including District President Hasanuzzamil Shaheen and General Secretary Advocate Forhad Iqbal, also expressed deep sympathy and extended their condolences to the bereaved families.
