Mongla, Sept 4 (V7N) - Thousands of BNP leaders, activists, and supporters took part in a colourful rally in Mongla on Wednesday morning to mark the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The rally, organized by Mongla Municipal BNP, began at 11:00 AM from the premises of the Sramik-Karmachari Sangha (Workers and Employees Union) and moved through the main streets of the town before returning to the original venue.

The event was led by Municipal BNP President Md. Zulfiquar Ali and General Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Manik. Among others present were Organizing Secretary Nasir Talukder and Mohila Dal President Kamala Begum.

Despite stormy weather and persistent rain throughout the morning, BNP supporters began gathering at the rally point from early hours. Many participants were seen drenched in rain as they enthusiastically marched in celebration, waving flags and chanting slogans in support of the party.

Local organizers said that the turnout exceeded expectations, particularly considering the challenging weather. According to estimates, several thousand people participated, reflecting strong grassroots support for the BNP in this coastal region.

Later in the evening, a commemorative discussion meeting is scheduled to be held at the same venue. This will be followed by a cultural program featuring music and performances by local artists, aimed at highlighting the historical significance of the party's founding and fostering unity among its supporters.

The day-long celebrations in Mongla reflect a nationwide effort by BNP members to reinvigorate the party’s political presence, especially in the lead-up to the country’s next general election.
