Pabna, Sept 7 (V7N) – The Pabna-Chatmohar regional highway, a vital communication route for thousands of vehicles daily, faces severe disruption every Sunday as a jute market is set up directly on the road at Chatmohar Railbazar Amritkunda. The unauthorized market stalls force vehicles to halt for hours, causing extreme suffering for commuters, traders, patients, and students alike.

Local residents complained that despite the recurring chaos, the administration remains inactive. According to witnesses, on Sunday morning, September 7, the situation became so dire that traffic was completely paralyzed from morning until noon.

Many expressed frustration that while the government spends large sums on road development, such unauthorized encroachments negate those efforts and put people in misery. Shopkeepers and vendors claim that setting up the market on the road ensures higher sales due to visibility and crowd access, but citizens argue that this convenience for traders is creating unbearable public suffering.

Locals demanded urgent intervention from the district and upazila administrations to relocate the market to a designated area and restore smooth traffic flow on this crucial highway.
