Rangamati, Sept 11 (V7N) – A drug-addicted husband allegedly stabbed his wife, causing severe abdominal injuries, in Rangamati city on Wednesday night, police confirmed. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Rabbie, reportedly fled the scene after attacking his wife, 23-year-old Naurin Akter Rini.
The incident occurred at Rini’s parental home in Kathaltoli. Locals helped rescue Rini, who was found in a critically injured state, and she was immediately taken to Rangamati Sadar Hospital for emergency treatment, according to Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Sahed Uddin of Kotwali Police Station.
Dr. Shawkat Akbar Khan, resident doctor at Rangamati General Hospital, stated that Rini’s intestines had protruded due to the stabbing. After providing initial emergency care, she was referred to Chattogram for advanced treatment.
According to Rini’s elder brother, the couple had been married for three years. Since the marriage, Rabbie, a furniture carpenter, allegedly became drug-dependent, frequently abused his wife, and neglected his work. Unable to endure the abuse, Rini recently returned to her parental home.
On Wednesday night, Rabbie arrived at his in-laws’ home to take Rini back, which led to a verbal altercation. During the argument, he stabbed her with a sharp knife, resulting in severe abdominal injuries and heavy bleeding before fleeing the scene.
Police have initiated a case and are conducting multiple operations to apprehend the suspect, Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Sahed Uddin confirmed.
