Jhalokathi, Sept 14 (V7N) – Police have recovered the floating body of former Bangladesh Rifles (BGB) member Md. Harun-or-Rashid Hawlader, 58, from the Bishkhali River in Jhalokathi. He was the son of Montaz Uddin Hawlader of Ichhanil village under Jhalokathi municipality.
According to police and family members, Harun went missing early Saturday morning (Sept. 13) after leaving home for Fajr prayers. About 12 hours later, at around 6:30 p.m., locals spotted his body floating in the river and immediately informed police, who then recovered it from the scene.
Speaking to reporters, Harun’s son, Saharul Islam, alleged that his father had been murdered over a long-standing land dispute with his stepbrothers. He mentioned that a case under Section 7 of the penal code was already pending in court regarding the matter. “This killing was premeditated and directly linked to the land conflict,” Saharul claimed.
Confirming the recovery, Sub-Inspector (SI) Milon Mallik of Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station said the body was sent to the district hospital morgue for autopsy. “Legal measures are being taken, and further investigation is underway,” he added.
