Pabna, Sept 17 (V7N) – The 138th birth anniversary of Satsang founder Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra was celebrated in Pabna on Tuesday with colorful events including prayer sessions, symbolic Ganga bathing, and a free medical camp.
The day-long observance, organized by Satsang Bangladesh, began at the Himaitpur Bishwavidyan Kendra premises with the announcement of Thakur’s birth moment. Devotees later joined a Vedic ceremony at the Pathartola Thakur Bari after the symbolic Ganga bath.
Marking the occasion, fruits and sweets were distributed among patients of Pabna Mental Hospital, while free medical treatment and medicines were provided to the public at a special camp. Thousands of devotees from Bangladesh, India, and other countries took part in the celebrations.
Sri Sri Thakur Anukulchandra, born in Himaitpur 138 years ago, is remembered for his teachings of equality and communal harmony that transcended religious and social boundaries. His followers commemorate his birthday every year as his “appearance day.”
Satsang Bangladesh joint editor Nikhil Majumder said the festival is held to spread Thakur’s message of non-communalism. “Thakur taught that everyone is equal. We prayed for world peace this morning, and thousands of devotees came from home and abroad,” he said. He urged the government to officially hand over the Himaitpur site to Satsang Bangladesh, adding that it would become a place of reverence for all.
