Madaripur, Sept 23 (V7N) – Police have recovered the throat-slit body of an elderly woman from her locked home in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Renu Begum, 60, wife of late Sadeq Hawlader, a resident of Char Kanchikata village under Umedpur Union.

According to police and local sources, Renu’s daughter became alarmed when repeated phone calls went unanswered around 11 a.m. She then contacted neighbors, who discovered the house locked from outside. Peering through a window, they saw Renu lying motionless on her bed and immediately informed police.

A team from Shibchar Police Station rushed to the scene, broke open the lock, and found Renu Begum’s body with her throat slit. Household items were scattered across the room, suggesting that the killing was linked to a burglary. Locals recalled that the same house had been robbed nearly a month ago.

Police recovered the body and are preparing to send it to Madaripur morgue for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been launched, and law enforcement officials said they are working to determine those responsible.

The incident has triggered shock and fear among residents of the area, who demanded swift justice and heightened security measures to prevent further crimes.
