The demonstration began on Sunday afternoon at the Chatmohar bus stand, organized by supporters of Hira, the former member secretary of the Upazila BNP. The procession marched through the main streets of the town before concluding at the Zardis intersection, where a brief street meeting took place.

The meeting was presided over by Touhidul Islam Taijul, General Secretary of Chatmohar Municipality BNP, and conducted by Ariful Islam Arif, Member Secretary of Chatmohar Upazila Chhatra Dal. Among the speakers were former BNP Organizing Secretary of the Upazila Nazir Sarkar, former Chairman of Gunai Gachha Union BNP Golam Mawla, former President of Mathurapur Union BNP Yasin Ali, former Organizing Secretary of the Municipal Jubo Dal Abdul Muttalib, BNP leader Palan Sarkar, and former Convener of Chatmohar Government College Chhatra Dal Masum Akash.

Speakers emphasized that Hasadul Islam Hira has been a dedicated and popular grassroots leader who remained active during the party’s most challenging times. They urged the BNP’s central leadership to prioritize local leadership by nominating Hira for the Pabna-3 seat, arguing that outside candidates would not be accepted by the people of Chatmohar. The participants chanted slogans, declaring that they would resist any attempt to impose external figures on the constituency.

The speakers further stated that Hira has been playing a leading role in restoring people’s rights and democracy under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. They called on the BNP acting chairman to give priority to the grassroots level in the nomination process and to select local, dedicated leaders to strengthen the party’s organizational base.

Hundreds of leaders and activists from the Upazila, municipal, union, and ward levels of the BNP, along with members of its affiliate organizations, joined the demonstration, creating a strong display of local unity and enthusiasm ahead of the national polls.
