Mongla, Nov 08 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) observed National Revolution and Solidarity Day in Mongla on Friday, marking the historic uprising of November 7, 1975.
The day’s events began at 11 a.m. with a colorful rally that started from the Upazila Parishad premises and paraded through the main streets of Mongla town. The procession concluded at the Mongla Port Workers and Employees Association ground, where a discussion meeting was held.
Upazila BNP President Abdul Mannan Hawlader, Senior Vice President Abu Taleb Hawlader, General Secretary Abu Hossain Poni, and Organizing Secretary Sakir Hossain Shakil addressed the gathering.
Speakers described November 7 as a day of great national significance, symbolizing unity between soldiers and civilians in shaping Bangladesh’s political history. They criticized the current Awami League government for abolishing the public holiday that was previously observed on this day, calling it an attempt to erase a crucial part of national memory.
They pledged that once the BNP returns to power, November 7 will be reinstated as a national holiday. Party leaders also vowed to remain united behind the BNP-nominated candidate in the next parliamentary election to ensure victory for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol.
Local residents, party leaders, and activists from various unions under Mongla upazila participated in the day’s program amid a peaceful and spirited atmosphere.
