Mongla, Nov 10 (V7N) — The body of Riana Abzal (28), a tourist who went missing after a boat capsized during a trip to the Sundarbans, was recovered on Monday morning (November 10).
Her body was found floating near the Silo Jetty area in Mongla, confirmed Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
According to the Coast Guard, on Saturday (November 8), a group of 14 tourists set out on a boat trip to Karamjal in the Sundarbans. When the boat reached the Dhangmari Canal area around 1 pm, it lost control and capsized due to strong waves. While 13 tourists were rescued alive with the help of locals, Riana Abzal remained missing.
Two rescue teams from Coast Guard Base Mongla and Station Harbaria immediately launched a search operation with boats. After a continuous three-day search, the body of the missing tourist was recovered floating near the Silo Jetty area on Monday morning.
The body was later handed over to the Chandpai Naval Police for further procedures.
