JHALAKATHI, Mar 8, (V7N) – A burglary took place at a residence in Saturia Naikathi area of Rajapur upazila, Jhalakathi, early Saturday, with thieves looting cash and gold ornaments.

According to local sources, the incident occurred at the home of Dulal Akon, a toll truck driver, around 2 am while he and his children were asleep. The burglars reportedly cut a hole in the back wall of the house to gain entry. They stole approximately Tk 12,000 in cash and a gold bangle weighing two and a half bhoris.

Family members discovered the theft in the morning, sparking concern and unrest in the locality. Neighbours gathered at the scene, expressing alarm over the daring nature of the burglary.

Upon receiving information, Rajapur Police Station officers visited the site and inspected the house. Police said they are investigating the incident and will take necessary steps to identify and apprehend those involved.

The burglary has created tension in the area, with residents urging authorities to strengthen night patrols and ensure greater security to prevent similar incidents.
