Barguna, July 11 (V7N)- In alignment with national celebrations, World Population Day was observed in Barguna, spearheaded by the District Health Rights Forum.

On Thursday (July 11), festivities began with a vibrant rally that commenced from the Barguna Press Club premises. The procession made its way through various streets and concluded with a discussion meeting held at the Jagonari Pathshala conference room.

The event, supported by Bangladesh Health Watch, saw the discussion meeting chaired by Mr. Hasanur Rahman Jhantu, president of the District Health Rights Forum. The chief guest was Dr. Yunus Ali Khan, the retired assistant director of Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Dr. Md. Yunus Ali emphasized that the population should be viewed as a resource rather than a problem. He highlighted that with proper training, the population can be transformed into a valuable asset. Skilled human resources are essential for the nation's development. The advancement and skill level of a country's youth directly correlate with the nation's progress. He underscored the importance of training everyone to maximize their potential and contribute to the nation's independent development, thereby achieving success.

The discussion also included contributions from Youth Forum Coordinator Apu, Youth Forum members Md. Zahid Howladar and Maria Akhtar, District Forum member Jahangir Kabir Mridha, and Health Watch's Women's Affairs Officer Afroza Akhi.
