Khulna, July 17 (V7N)- The Mayor of Khulna City Corporation, Alhaj Talukdar Abdul Khalek, expressed concern over attempts to portray the liberation war and its brave freedom fighters as opponents in the ongoing quota reform movement. He stated that certain individuals are behaving in ways that reflect the defeated forces of the liberation war, a behavior that does not represent the true spirit of the movement. Khalek emphasized that some special interests are trying to steer the movement against Bangladesh’s progress and development.

The mayor made these remarks while addressing the human chain program organized by the Khulna Journalists Union (KUJ) and supported by the Khulna Freedom Journalist Forum, Khulna TV Reporters Unity, and Khulna TV Camera Journalists Association. The event took place at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 17, at the Picture Palace intersection in the city.

The human chain was led by KUJ President Md. Sayeduzzaman Emperor, with Mahendranath Sen, General Secretary of KUJ, and Abhijit Pal, General Secretary of Khulna TV Reporters Unity, facilitating the program.

Prominent participants included General Secretary of Metropolitan Awami League MDA Babul Rana, General Secretary of District Awami League Adv. Sujit Adhikari, former commander of the Khulna Mahanagar Muktijoddha Command Council, Vir Muktijoddha Alamgir Kabir, President of Khulna Freedom Journalist Forum Hero Mukbul Hossain Mintu, District Awami League Vice President Rafiqul Islam Ripon, prominent cultural worker Hero Mukti Jodha Moklechur Rahman Bablu, Convener of Professional Journalist Protection Forum Khulna and former President of KUJ SM Habib, former KUJ President Munsi Mahbub Alam Sohag, and Joint Secretary General of BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Hedayet Hossain Molla.
