Dhaka, Sep 13 (V7N) – The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Rangpur Region and the Border Security Force (BSF) North Bengal Frontier held a meeting at the Banglabandha-Phulbari Integrated Check Post (ICP) on the Bangladesh-India border, during which BGB strongly condemned recent border killings.

The meeting, which took place around noon on Thursday, saw BGB represented by Brigadier General Khandaker Shafiquzzaman, Rangpur Region Commander, and Colonel Muhammad Touhidur Rahman, Commander of the Thakurgaon Sector, along with other BGB officials. The BSF delegation was led by Inspector General Shri Surya Kumar Sharma of the North Bengal Frontier, with deputy inspector generals from the Siliguri and Kishanganj sectors in attendance.

During the discussions, BGB voiced strong condemnation over the recent killing of 15-year-old Bangladeshi teenager Jayanta Kumar Singh, who was shot dead by BSF on September 9 in Thakurgaon.

Inspector General Sharma expressed his regret over the incident and assured the BGB delegation that BSF would no longer open fire on Bangladeshi citizens at the border.

Both sides also agreed to collaborate on raising awareness among border residents, preventing illegal border crossings, and addressing cross-border crimes.
