Lottery for school enrollment likely to continue this year

Dhaka, Sep 26 (V7N) –The lottery system for student enrollment in secondary schools will remain in place this year as well.

This decision was made during a meeting at the Ministry of Education on Thursday afternoon.

The system will be applicable in all government secondary schools and private secondary schools located in metropolitan and district headquarters across the country.

The education adviser will be informed about this matter, and if he approves, the admission policies will be finalized and published, reports Prothom Alo.

Detailed instructions are expected to be issued next week.

Every year, the enrollment process for the following year takes place at the end of the current year, with classes starting in January. Previously, only the enrollment for first grade was conducted through a lottery. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in the 2021 academic year, students of all classes were admitted via lottery.

Since then, students have been selected through the same process.
