Rupganj, Oct 07 (V7N) — In a major step towards embracing the future of education and technology, Green University of Bangladesh has announced the launch of the country’s first graduate course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science. The course is set to cater to the increasing demand for AI expertise in higher education, marking a significant advancement in Bangladesh's academic offerings.

This announcement was made at a press conference held at the university’s permanent campus in Rupganj on Monday around noon. Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mohammad Sharif Uddin, highlighted the growing importance of AI globally, stating that "the popularity of artificial intelligence has surged dramatically in the last two to three years." He noted that many people now turn to AI rather than traditional search engines like Google, a testament to its expanding influence.

Dr. Sharif Uddin further explained that platforms such as Amazon are already offering basic AI courses, underscoring the need for academic institutions to keep pace with technological advancements. "AI and data science may be relatively new, but their future is bright. To stay competitive in the evolving global market, expertise in these areas is crucial," he added.

The introduction of the AI and Data Science graduate course aims to prepare students to tackle challenges brought on by the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions. Dr. Sharif Uddin emphasized that AI is indispensable for students of science and engineering who wish to excel in a world increasingly dominated by technology.

Artificial Intelligence, a branch of computer science, seeks to replicate human intelligence and reasoning using machines. The growing demand for AI professionals and the course's potential to open up career opportunities have positioned Green University as a pioneer in this transformative field in Bangladesh.
