The book "Dhaka: A City Plagued by Problems," written by United News of Bangladesh (UNB) Special Correspondent Muhammed Abdur Rahman Jahangir, debuted at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Thursday.

You may get the book from IJC Publications at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) stand (stall no. 773). The book will be accessible in the Kazi Nazrul Islam Library of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and the libraries of many journalist unions following the fair.

The book uses the perspectives of top urban and transportation specialists in Bangladesh to illuminate Dhaka's transportation, communication, civic challenges, and environmental concerns.
This book is an important resource for urban scholars who want to investigate possible remedies and comprehend the underlying reasons for Dhaka's disturbing issues, in addition to being a chronicle of such issues.

The book outlined the reasons why the Dhaka municipal authorities still face significant challenges in attaining sustainable growth, even with the implementation of infrastructure advancements such as flyovers and metro trains.

However, it was predicted that Dhaka would be able to look forward to a more optimistic future with improved public awareness, effective urban planning, and rule and regulatory enforcement.
The late Mayor Annisul Huq of Dhaka North Metropolis Corporation (DNCC) was honored by the author, who acknowledged his visionary leadership and efforts in transforming Dhaka into a stunning, planned, and contemporary metropolis.

Author Abdur Rahman Jahangir expressed his hope that the book's insights will help politicians and city officials create well-thought-out strategies and take practical action to address Dhaka's growing problems.

According to him, the book's publication success will be determined by how well it draws legislators' attention and helps to somewhat resolve the long-standing issues facing our cherished city.

The author said:

"I think this book is very valuable for aspiring journalists and journalism students because it can be a great tool for learning how to write special stories about urban issues, social problems, and development challenges," the author continued.
