Rajshahi, Sept 16 (V7N) – A total of 42 candidates have been elected unopposed in the Rajshahi University (RU) Hall Parliament elections, the Chief Election Commissioner F. Nazrul Islam confirmed on Monday.
 
According to the Election Commission, 39 candidates were elected unopposed from six women’s halls and three from one men’s hall. In four women’s halls, some posts remain vacant as no nominations were submitted.
 
The elected representatives include 13 executive members and 29 general members. Specific positions such as Assistant Debate and Literary Secretary in Begum Khaleda Zia Hall, and Executive Member positions in Rokeya, July-36, and Rahmatunnesa Halls remain vacant.
 
For competitive seats, 248 candidates will contest 23 central council positions. This includes 18 candidates for Vice President (VP), 13 for General Secretary (GS), and 16 for Assistant General Secretary (AGS). Across 17 residential halls, 597 candidates will compete, with 61 contesting VP, 58 GS, and 57 AGS posts. Women’s halls have 16 VP, 16 GS, and 15 AGS candidates.
 
Voting is scheduled for 25 September from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Academic Building, with results to be announced the same day.
