Chattogram, Sept 17 (V7N) – Confusion has emerged over the number of nomination forms collected for the upcoming Chattogram University Central Student Union (CUCSU) and hall union elections at Nawab Faizunnesa Hall. While the Election Commission records show 14 candidates have collected forms, candidates claim the actual number is at least 18. The discrepancy appears to be due to forms mistakenly issued under the names of other halls.
According to the Election Commission, nine candidates collected forms on September 15 and five more on September 16, totaling 14. However, leaders of the “Hridoytar Bondhon” panel said not all forms were issued under Nawab Faizunnesa Hall’s name.
Panel vice-presidential candidate Promita Chakma said, “We finalized a 14-member panel, but only 10 forms were issued under Nawab Faizunnesa Hall. The remaining four were issued under Preetilata Hall. The commission informed us this can be corrected at submission by indicating the correct hall name.”
Election rules require nomination forms to carry the name and seal of the respective hall, and the misissuance has caused the current confusion.
Candidate Tasfia Tabassum added, “Yesterday, 14 candidates collected forms as a full panel. I collected mine today as the 15th, yet the commission still records only 14. It’s confusing.”
Election Commission member-secretary Prof. Dr. Ariful Haque Siddiqui clarified, “Forms are issued blank. The hall name in our registry is final. Any form issued under a different hall can be corrected during submission. The hall name in the official register is authoritative.”
