Dhaka, Oct 16 (V7N) — The results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations have been published, revealing that no students passed from 202 educational institutions across the country.

The results were released on the websites of all education boards at 10 a.m. on Thursday (October 16), while the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee presented detailed statistics at its office in Bakshibazar, Dhaka.

According to the data, 345 institutions across the country achieved a 100 percent pass rate, while 202 institutions recorded zero pass rates — a sharp rise compared to 65 institutions last year. This means the number of institutions with complete failure has increased by 137 this year.

Overall, the national average pass rate dropped drastically to 58.83 percent, down from 77.78 percent in 2024. Similarly, the number of students securing GPA 5 fell by about 78,000 compared to the previous year.

Despite the overall decline, female students once again outperformed males. This year, 59,232 more girls passed than boys, and 4,991 more girls achieved a GPA of 5.

Officials noted that this year’s performance is the lowest since 2005, when the pass rate was similarly poor.

A total of 12,51,111 students under 11 education boards registered for the HSC and equivalent examinations. Of them, 6,18,015 were boys and 6,33,096 were girls. The exams were conducted at 2,797 centers nationwide, though around 27,000 students did not appear.

The education boards emphasized that the results have been prepared based on a ‘real evaluation’ principle, ensuring stricter and more accurate assessment standards.
