Dhaka, Nov 23 (V7N)- Students have started vacating residential halls after Dhaka University declared a temporary shutdown due to the emergency situation created by the recent earthquake. From Sunday morning, students from various halls were seen leaving with essential belongings.

Many students expressed support for the administration’s decision, citing safety concerns. Students of Rokeya Hall reported that cracks had appeared in multiple spots within the building. Welcoming the closure, they said that if repair work is carried out during this period, the halls would become safer for residents.

Several DU halls — including Rokeya Hall, Mohsin Hall, and Shahidullah Hall — are already in deteriorated condition. Meanwhile, some residential students spent the night in front of the Vice Chancellor’s residence, demanding a three-point solution, including clear measures to ensure safe accommodation.

Earlier, the university administration announced the closure of Dhaka University until December 6 due to the post-earthquake emergency. Students were instructed to vacate all residential halls by 5 pm on Sunday.
