Rajshahi, July 8 (V7N)- Around 10-15 students of Rajshahi University burned books in protest against the question leaks in the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) recruitment exams for both cadre and non-cadre positions. The incident occurred at Room 413 of Madar Bakhsh Hall on campus around 11 pm on Sunday (July 7th).

Regarding this, student Mehedi Hasan Akand from the Law Department of the university said, "In the BCS exams, there are quotas of 56% for general, 85% for railways, and 116% for primary teacher recruitment exams. Such quotas are discriminatory. After studying for 20-25 years, if we fail to get a job, then all their financial sacrifices will go in vain. This is why we are burning books."

He further stated, "Our country's highest laws and constitution talk about equal opportunities in government jobs. But having quotas like this in government jobs will deprive ordinary students of their protected fundamental rights according to the constitution. This may not happen. We demand reform in the quota system. Where will the meritorious go if questions of the PSC recruitment exams are leaked? We do not benefit from studying. That's why we are burning books."

Another student, Hridoy Hossein, who hopes to get a job, said, "If I do not get a job after studying, or if I am victimized by huge discrimination, I will not study. I will burn all books. I want a corruption-free society built on merit."

According to a report by private television channel Channel 24, questions have been leaked in almost every PSC recruitment exam for nearly a decade. Allegations have also been raised that even the questions of the latest 46th BCS preliminary exam were leaked. Questions were also leaked for the recruitment exam for 516 railway positions held last Friday.

It is also mentioned that questions were leaked in nearly 30 cadre-non-cadre exams from 33rd BCS to 46th BCS. Major officials of the PSC are involved in question leaks.
